With near perfect weather for the entire week, the Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championship concluded on Monday.
Terence Daniels took the lead in the second round and never looked back finishing his final round with an 8 foot putt on the 72nd hole to shoot 73 and win by 6 shots over Jarryd Dillas and 9 shots over Jun Hardart. The course played difficult all week making it tough for anyone to really make a move forward. Terence played steady all for all 4 rounds making it even more difficult for anyone to catch him.
In the Ladies division, Katrin Burnie, who won the Match Play Championship in March, continued her dominating play by also winning the Ladies Stroke Play Championship. She was able to hold off a strong performance from Katyna Rabain and Kathy Lloyd-Hines to maintain her 9 shot lead.
Terence and Katrin have earned an exemption into the Dixie Amateur in December in Coral Springs Florida.
Cindy Hardart and Geoff Piggot finished on top of their respective net divisions to claim the Net Championship.
Also, congratulations to Terence Daniels, Jarryd Dillas, and Jun Hardart for qualifying to represent Bermuda in the WORLD AMATEUR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP in Argentina in October. Ryan Benevides has earned his spot as the first alternate.
Congratulations to all the particiapants for a great week of golf. Thank you to Port Royal for preparing the course, 64 degrees for the catering and prizegiving, all the volunteers who helped out all week to assist with the tournament, Earl Basden with Island stats and Josh Ball from the Royal Gazette for covering the event and the Governor His Excellency Sir Richard Gozney and Lady Gozney for presenting the prizes.
