
Final Round Press Release:
Daniel Augustus hangs on and becomes the Bacardi National Par 3 Champion. Fairmont
Southampton Par 3 course proved that it is just as challenging as its sister courses on the island.
The course was in excellent condition throughout the two days.
Professional Division
Daniel Augustus records a second consecutive round in the 50s to capture the inaugural Bacardi
National Par 3 Championship by a slim two shots over Tim Conley and picking up a winner’s
check of $1,100. Daniel recorded a 59 today to add to his 2 under 52 yesterday, giving him a two
day total of 3 over 111 for the tournament. Regular visitor to Bermuda, Tim Conley recorded a 57
today giving him a two day total of 113, 5 over for the tournament. 3rd Place went to Quinton
Sherlock Jr. who finished with 115 overall and 7 over for the tournament.
Men’s Amateur Division - Gross
Top Bermuda Amateur Nick Mansell takes tops honors in the men’s amateur division and was
only three shots from winning overall. Nick finished with a 6 over, 114 overall in the tournament
to take the amateur men’s division by a slim two shots over rising star, Nick Jones, who finished
at 8 over and 116 overall. In third place was Jeff Lindo on 12 over, 120 overall.
Ladies’ Amateur Division – Gross
Laura Robinson kept her composure and held onto the lead taking top female amateur honors
with a 135 overall, 27 over par. Tariqah Walikaraam, who has represented Bermuda overseas
with Laura, came in second with a 28 over par, 136 overall. Cindy Hardart who flew in the night
before the tournament managed to capture 3rd place overall.
Men’s Amateur Division – Net
Steven Hickmott wins the Net Championship with a 1 overall performance 107 for the
tournament. In second and third place was Andrew Wright and Alan Gamble tied on 7 over for
the event. Going to the scorecards, Andrew Wright came out the winner on retrogression with
Alan Gamble taking third place honors.
Ladies’ Amateur Division - Net
Linda Outerbridge wins the ladies’ net division with a fine performance over two days. Linda
finished at 9 over net for the tournament 117 overall. Shirley Brown captured 2nd place honors
and Melinda Frith 3rd.
