Player criteria for representing the Bermuda Golf Association
- Be a Bermudian or resident of Bermuda for at least five years.
- Only one non-Bermudian will be allowed on four-person or three-person teams.
- No non-Bermudians will be considered for two-person teams.
- Proof of residency must be submitted upon request from the association
- Must be a BGA member.
- Players will be invited to a qualifying event with invitations being based upon a player's performance in tournaments during the scheduled season, September through August of the current year.
- The qualifier will consist of a minimum of 36 holes stroke play.
- Performance will include etiquette on the course.
- Players must participate in over half of the medal rounds throughout the season.
- Overseas players must submit their tournament scores as well as course information, coach contact information, and their status on the team (if applicable).
- Local and overseas-based players playing in other state, county, or national qualifiers may submit scores for team consideration
- Players will be expected to support BGA events; players not adhering may be deselected or replaced by an alternate.
- All players wishing to be considered for a team must walk during all qualifying events.
- At the conclusion of the qualifier, the best 2, 3 or 4 will be selected as well as two alternates.
- The BGA reserves the right to select a player or players to represent Bermuda in an event without the need for them to participate in a qualifier, should there be any player or players who, in the sole discretion of the BGA, have demonstrated consistently, and on a sustained basis, a level of play that is deemed sufficiently better than the group of players who have been selected to participate in a qualifier for the event in question. In making such discretionary selections, the BGA will take into consideration factors such as deportment, effort and prior experience.
- Once selected, players will be required to adhere to practice schedules and instruction on rules, course management, and swings.
